Approximately 3 miles west of Pissouri Village is Petra Tou Romiou (The Rock of Aphrodite’s), the mythical birthplace of Aphrodite, goddess of love and beauty.   Legend has it that Aphrodite rose from the waves in this strikingly beautiful spot, so beginning centuries of myth, legend and history which still attracts visitors to the "Playground of the Gods".
